    Re: Region D quarterfinal scores

I don't think anybody in the region is going to challenge Gate City. Could be wrong, hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

I doubt if Gate City will go very far after the regional. Could be wrong, hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

My SR year I thought Clintwood and Pound both represented Region D in state competition. I think the year they lost to Haysi was 98. 99 Pound lost in the state finals and the regional tourney was at Castlewood. I was thinking around Fleenors JR year or so they made it which I was thinking was either 01 or 02.

I don't think we made it past the region. Wasn't that the year we stunk in the regular season, people quit, etc and we somehow made the regional tournament?

I was thinking that was Fleenors SR year that he left the team along with a bunch of others. I may be mistaken though.

teams today don't play ball like they use to. give me a JIB team from 87-91 and I take them every time over any team down here today. I think I'd take then over and all lpd team and maybe over an all region d team. It's crazy what difference there is in the era's

    Re: Region D quarterfinal scores

PV hasn't made the state tournament since 1997. It was Julius & Warren's junior seasons. Neil Bailey, Matt Walls, Christian Thompson were seniors that year. In 1998, we lost the latter three, and got beat in the LPD semis by Appalachia with the German Chris Papst, and a big 6-6 homegrown kid whose name I can't remember. 1998 was preston mitchell's last year as PV coach as I recall. PV's 1997 team was nasty and loaded with talent. Just laid an egg in the elite 8 against a pretty good John Battle team in radford university.
